ABOUT US
Our Beliefs
Oakhurst Baptist Church is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing group of Christians who greatly desire to minister to our community and world in the name of Jesus Christ. We believe that Christ is the only true HOPE for the world and that He is the Head of the Church.
As a Southern Baptist church, we agree with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Oakhurst Baptist Church officially began on April 15, 1946. There were 10 charter members. The name of the church was originally New Macedonia Baptist Church, but the name was changed to Oakhurst Baptist Church in October 1946.
The church's first full-time pastor was Rev. Robert Hughes. He served as pastor for over 25 years.
Since that time, the church has had four full-time pastors: Rev. Cecil Baughman, Dr. Rob Roberts, Dr. Richard Crider, and Dr. Keith Hudson.
Dr. Rob Roberts has returned and began serving as Senior Pastor on May 1, 2022.
The church called Rev. Nathan Smith to serve as Associate Pastor to work with music, students ministries, and pastoral assistance. He began on July 15, 2024.
Oakhurst has been greatly blessed over the years with godly pastors and ministry staff, along with many faithful lay-people who have given their lives in service to our Lord.
The church has been faithfully sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to their comunity and has been supporting mission work throughout the world.
The church has recently converted the church parsonage into "The Potter's House," which is a lodging place for missionaries on state-side assignment.
The church consists of wonderful, Christ-loving members who are faithfully endeavoring to fulfill the Great Commission, given to us by our Lord in Matthew 28:18-20.
