From the Pastor:

In the morning services, we reviewed, made corrections and approved nominations for the new church year.  The Nominating Committee has done an excellent job collecting these officers and teachers.  We ask you to support them with your presence and prayers in the coming days.  The four deacons elected to the Deacon Council were Kevin Cheek, Tom Garren, Joel Hardison, and Randy Hurley.

Our afternoon picnic was well attended and provided not only good fellowship but some great hamburgers and hotdogs (not to mention desserts).  The weather was warm yet just what we expect for a picnic.  A special thanks to the Hosts Committee and the cooking crew.  Rebecca Smith’s presentation of her mission trip was a perfect way to end the day.

Our revival services are “just around the corner.”  We have seven services planned, two of which will have a contemporary emphasis.  Rev. Danny Hosler will speak at 8:45am Sunday, September 26, and Wednesday at 7pm on Sep. 29.  Rev. Kenneth Tucker will speak at the other five services, beginning Sunday morning at 11:00am and going through Thursday. All of the evening services are at 7pm.  Pray for God’s special outpouring.

We welcome new member Kendall Lambeth (daughter of Crystal and Chad Lambeth) into our membership.  She joined in the 8:45am service.  May God continue to add as He desires.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY

Jonah

Navigating a Life Interrupted

By: Priscilla Shirer

Begins 10/3/10 – 11/14/10 (7 weeks)

Time:  5:15 – 6:45 p.m.

Cost:  $12.00

Interruptions.  They come in all sizes and shapes, all colors and shades, good and bad.  Though we wish to avoid them, every season of life seems to include a few – sometimes on either end of the same day.  As we are coming up for air from the devastation of one, a fresh and exciting interruption takes our breath away, challenging us with new responsibilities, leaving us feeling inadequate and outmatched.  Sometimes they make us wonder if God even cares.

So, welcome to Jonah.  He knows how a life interrupted feels, and he’s got a firsthand account of how yielding to God is the best decision after all.  Come join Priscilla Shirer won’t you?  We will have a “whale” of a time.  A sign-up sheet is available on the Welcome Center.  For more information, call Pat Blake at 629-0117.
